In-Home Training - Fun and From the Heart

I have been doing in-home training in the Seattle area for 20 years. I am now, also offering the same comprehensive, in-home program in the BELLINGHAM area as well.

My emphasis is on creating a harmonious, sweet, playful, trusting connection with your dog.... as well as having a dog who is obedient and a good canine citizen. For the sanity and safety of you and your dog, it is essential that city dogs learn to be well mannered... at home and in public.

The lessons are fun for everyone, and even nervous owners (and dogs ) are relaxed, happy and learning lots of good things quickly and easily.

My training program covers 5 general areas:

Control and calming techniques - using restraint and for nipping, mouthing, bite prevention, cuddle training, preparing pup for grooming or veterinarian. Teaching correct use of voice and hands. The lesson usually begins as I walk in the door.....and your dog greets me.. ”watch how I use my hands to calm your dog .... “(these techniques which then get incorporated into everyday life and obedience work) See “Good Puppy!” video for more info on this.

Household manners -housebreaking, diet and feeding schedules, interactions with you, your children, other pets, setting up home and yard for easy management, learning to be alone, toys and chewing and play, jumping up, greetings, the neighbors, etc. Everything that takes place around your home.

Obedience training - heel (as well as several other walking styles), sit and sit-stay, down and down-stay, come when called - on and off leash, stand for examination, grooming, feet wiping, etc..

Socialization - in public, with other dogs, kids, neighbors, at the park, at the vet.

Problem Solving- any other bad habit or baffling behaviors are worked on.

Lessons are at your home, or on location, often at Greenlake (the lake offers super good socializing opportunities), the off-leash area’s, at your local coffee shop, where ever you want your dog to be well mannered. We also work on car manners, respecting your cats, (or the neighbors), respect for joggers, bicycles,.....etc.

Also how to manage 2 puppies at once, or the addition of a 2nd dog to your household.

At the end of each lesson I give you detailed instructions on everything we covered.

Scheduling and Duration

The first lesson is usually 2 hours long. Subsequent lessons can range from 1 to 2 hours. IN the SEATTLE area, you can save money by bringing your dog to me, in Wallingford, for private lessons.

We go lesson by lesson. You do not need to sign up and prepay a set number of lessons. Sometimes only 1 or 2 lessons are needed to get you and your dog on the right track. Other situations require more time.

Evening and weekend appointments are routine. Call for rates.
